NEW WEAPON FIGHTS CHILDHOOD OBESITY WHILE KIDS WATCH TV AND PLAY VIDEO GAMES
The EnterTRAINER.com, Inc. (Philadelphia, PA) introduces a new home electronics product that motivates children to exercise with the reward of TV or game entertainment. The combination heart monitor and universal remote control provides the virtual experience of powering TVs with exercise. As heart rate falls below a chosen target, so does the TV volume. Kids must pick up the pace of their exercise to continue watching or the TV will turn off. The EnterTRAINERâ ($139.95) is available online at www.theentertrainer.com or by calling toll free: 1-TV TURNS YOU ON. Dealer inquiries are invited.
The EnterTRAINERâ, the size of a softball, mounts to any exercise machine or may be placed on a nearby table or floor. It calculates target zones based upon user age and desired workout intensity and accordingly controls any TV or video game display via wireless remote control. The user wears a wireless heart monitor under their clothing and may perform any type of physical activity that elevates their heart rate.
We’re just taking them down the path of least resistance” says product developer Joe Volpe. “Epidemic obesity and overweight are the fastest growing pediatric health crisis in America, and kids watch an average of 2 hours of TV per day.Why not harness their strong desire for TV or video games as a fitness motivation.”
The Surgeon General reports1 that the percentage of overweight children has nearly tripled in the last two decades and recommends at least 60 minutes of activity per day. Aside from the many emerging physical health problems, children themselves cite social discrimination, poor self-esteem and depression as the most immediate consequences of obesity.
The product includes batteries, an enhanced heart monitor, 2-year warranty, user guide and toll-free tech support.
